This online series contributes to the mission of the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto) to ensure that, at the time of recertification, diplomates certified by the ABOto have met the ABOto's professional standards of training and knowledge in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.
The series addresses Part II (Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment) of the Maintenance of Certification requirements. In addition, these patient-case-based, peer-reviewed, interactive modules are a valuable tool for all otolaryngologists (whether or not they participate in the MOC program) in evaluating and improving decision-making skills in otolaryngology. The modules are graphically rich, allow for multiple pathways in management of the patient, and include a discussion of management and controversial areas, usually in the form of a videotaped panel discussion by content experts.
